The Three Hikers Documentary

The Three Hikers is a feature documentary in progress that paints a dynamic personal picture of the ongoing violation of human rights in Iran, through the extraordinary personal story of Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer, and Josh Fattal, three Americans captured in July 2009 and held in Iran's notorious Evin Prison for almost two years.   The political is uniquely made personal as the camera captures the exclusive never-before-seen moments of all three families in the battle of their lives, as they are all suddenly thrust onto the world stage, where it became increasingly clearer that Sarah, Shane and Josh were being used as political pawns in a seemingly never-ending high stakes standoff between the US and Iran.   With only a handful of phones calls and letter between them, the families, spread across the United States, had to work together at the darkest moments to find strength and hope.   Once Sarah was released after 410 days in solitary confinement, after intense negotiations between the US Government and the government of Oman, she immediately spearheaded the campaign to free her fiancé Shane who asked her to marry him when they were still inside the walls of Evin Prison.   Our cameras had exclusive access to follow Sarah on her brave campaign to free Shane and Josh as she made countless televised appearances on every major network and with nearly every known news personality.   When Shane and Josh were then sentenced to six more years in prison, Sarah and the families were devastated but relentlessly determined to continue fighting for their survival.    The love story between Sarah and Shane and the family drama continued to unfold as countless renowned international figures such as actor Sean Penn joined Sarah to fight the government of Iran from all angles. From necessary media-cover ups, secret rendezvous with notorious international figures and silent partners in high level political maneuvering to ensure constant pressure on the government of Iran.   Shane and Josh's rare happy ending release was widely televised and now a wedding between Sarah and Shane is planned for May of 2012, where we have once again been given exclusive access to film.   The Three Hikers is a fiscally sponsored project of the International Documentary Association (IDA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Contributions are payable to "IDA" and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.  All donations made prior to December 31, 2011 can be attributed to the 2011 fiscal year.  All donations made after December 31, 2011 will be attributed to the 2012 fiscal year.   Donations can be made easily in through a variety of payment options located at the following link. http://www.documentary.org
